Find vacant train seats after chart preparation, instantly.
Even when IRCTC shows Regret or Waitlist, the train is rarely full. Our free chart vacancy tool reads the prepared reservation chart and reveals every empty berth, coach by coach, station by station.

The empty seats Indian Railways never told you about.
Train chart vacancy refers to the empty seats remaining in any Indian Railways train after the final reservation chart is prepared. When the chart is prepared (8 hours before departure for trains after 2 PM, or the previous night for early morning trains), three things happen at once.
First, confirmed passengers receive their final coach and berth numbers. Second, RAC passengers get half-berth allotments. Third, fully waitlisted e-tickets are auto cancelled. Behind the scenes, dozens of seats become available again due to cancellations, no-shows, and unused VIP, Defence, Foreign Tourist, and Handicapped quotas.
Most travelers see “Regret/WL” on IRCTC and give up. We built this tool so you do not have to.

Questions, answered.
What is train chart vacancy?
Train chart vacancy refers to the empty seats remaining in any Indian train after the final reservation chart is prepared. These vacant berths become available due to cancellations, no-shows, and unused quota seats. You can book them through current booking on IRCTC, at the PRS counter, or directly from the TTE on the train.
When does Indian Railways prepare the train chart?
The first chart is prepared 8 hours before departure for trains departing after 2 PM. For trains departing before 2 PM, the first chart is prepared the previous night around 9 PM. A final chart is prepared 30 minutes before departure to capture last minute changes and cancellations.
How does your chart vacancy tool work?
Our tool reads the official Indian Railways chart after preparation, scans every coach and berth across all route segments, and shows you vacant seats including hidden gap seats. Results appear in under 10 seconds. No login needed, no app download required.
What are gap seats and how do I find them?
Gap seats are berths booked for only part of the journey, leaving them vacant for the remaining route segments. Our tool detects them automatically. For example, if someone booked Delhi to Jaipur, that berth is vacant from Jaipur onwards. You can book or hop onto it.
Can I book a ticket after chart preparation?
Yes. Vacant seats are released for Current Booking. You can book online through IRCTC, at the PRS counter at any major station, or directly request a seat from the TTE on the train. Online current booking closes 30 minutes before departure.
Will my waitlisted ticket get confirmed after chart preparation?
If your WL number is low and enough cancellations happen, yes. Otherwise, fully waitlisted e-tickets are auto cancelled and refunded. Use our tool to find alternative confirmed seats immediately if your ticket does not clear.
Is your chart vacancy tool free to use?
Yes, 100% free forever. No login, no sign up, no hidden charges, no premium tiers. We do not track you or sell your data to anyone.
Can TTE give me a seat without a confirmed ticket?
Yes, if vacant seats are available after chart preparation. Show the TTE the seat info from our tool, pay the fare plus a small charge, and the TTE will allot the seat. Always speak politely and carry valid government ID proof.
How accurate is the chart vacancy data?
Our data is fetched directly from the official Indian Railways chart system. After chart preparation, accuracy is very high. We refresh every 60 seconds to catch new cancellations and updates.
Which Indian trains are supported?
All 12,000+ Indian Railways trains with published charts are supported. This includes Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Garib Rath, Humsafar, Mail and Express, Superfast, and regular passenger trains.
Are current booking tickets refundable?
Generally no. Current booking tickets cannot be cancelled normally. You can file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) for partial refund in specific cases like train cancellation or delay.
Is this tool affiliated with IRCTC or Indian Railways?
No. We are an independent platform built to help travelers. We use only publicly available chart data. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to IRCTC, Indian Railways, or any government body.
